RESUMO: O presente trabalho discorre acerca das consequências da LGBTfobia na saúde mental de pessoas Lésbicas, Gays, Bissexuais, Travestis e Transexuais (LGBTs), diante do alto índice de violência LGBTfóbica no Brasil. Nesse sentido, objetivou-se compreender as consequências da LGBTfobia na saúde mental das pessoas LGBTs, assim como descrever as principais formas de preconceito e discriminação sofridas pelas pessoas atingidas. Para alcançar esses objetivos, realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa com entrevistas semiestruturadas, utilizando o sistema “bola de neve” para acessar os entrevistados. As entrevistas foram realizadas com 19 pessoas LGBTs com idade igual ou superior que 18 anos, sendo eles, 3 homens cisgêneros gays, 3 mulheres cisgêneros lésbicas, 3 homens cisgêneros bissexuais, 3 mulheres cisgêneros bissexuais, 2 homens transexuais, 3 mulheres transexuais e 2 mulheres travestis. Os dados foram analisados através da análise de conteúdo, sendo elencadas as seguintes categorias e subcategorias de análise: a) Vivências de discriminação, subdividida em: a1) Relacionamento familiar; a2) Relacionamento social; e a3) Religião; b) LGBTfobia e saúde mental, subdividida em: b1) Consequências na saúde mental; e b2) Redes de apoio. Verificou-se que a discriminação vivenciada pelas pessoas LGBTs se estende para além do ambiente familiar, trabalho e relações amorosas, mas perpassando também o contexto escolar. Também foi observado que o discurso religioso corrobora com esses comportamentos LGBTfóbicos, utilizando da “homofobia religiosa” para desqualificar as diversidades sexuais e de gênero. Por conseguinte, a pesquisa concluiu que a grande maioria das pessoas vítimas de LGBTfobia estão sujeitas à ocorrência de efeitos prejudiciais à saúde mental e averiguou que as redes de apoio possuem um papel importante no sentido de fornecer suporte emocional. Além disso, foi constatado que famílias protetivas e acolhedoras contribuem significativamente para o enfrentamento da LGBTfobia cotidiana e são capazes de reduzir a ocorrência de sofrimento psíquico e mental nas pessoas atingidas.

ABSTRACT: The following work discusses the consequences of LGBTphobia on the mental health of, Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites and Transsexuals (LGBTs), due to the high rate of LGBTphobic violence in Brazil and the lack of studies that focus on the mental health of LGBTphobic victims, in the national literature. In this regard, this study aimed to understand the consequences of LGBTphobic on LGBTs` mental health, as well as describe the main ways of prejudice and discrimination, suffered by them. To attain the proposal goals, the studies were based on a qualitative research with semi-structured interviews, using the “snowball system” to reach the interviewees. The interviews were conducted by 19 LGBT people aged 18 or over, being 3 homosexual men, 3 homosexual women, 3 bixesual men, 3 bisexual women, 2 transsexual men, 3 transsexual women and 2 transvestite women. The data were analyzed by the content analysis, categorized and sucategorized in: a) descrimination experiences, subdivided in a1) relatted to family; a2) relatted to social; and a3) religion; b) LGBTphobia and mental health, subdivided in b1) mental health consequences; and b) support networks. The results indicate that the discrimination experienced by LGBT people extends over the familiar, professional or love relations, but it also lays on the scholar context. It was also observed the religious speech contribuits with the LGBTphobia behaviors, using the “religious homophobia” to desqualify the sexual and gender diversity. The research therefore concluded that the vast majority of LGBT-phobia victims are exposed to harmful mental health effects and found that support networks play an important role in providing emotional support. In addition, it was found that protective and welcoming families contribute significantly to coping with daily LGBTphobia and that are able to reduce the occurrence of mental suffering in affected people.
